This is the smallest and thus the highest toned of the Windsinger chimes. Fashioned after the original designs of Stephen Burnham, the look is boldly elegant and the sound is irresistibly beautiful. Made from extra thick-walled, specially suspended aluminum tubes, these chimes resonate much longer than any other chimes, producing enduring harmonies that are beyond compare. The ancient Greeks believed the mythological phoenix was a powerful bird whose body emitted rays of pure sunlight. It is said that near the end of a long life its nest ignites. Rebirth and renewal occur as the phoenix rises from the ashes singing a beautiful song. Woodstock Windsinger Chimes are musically-tuned using an ancient system known as “just intonation” which produces the purest musical intervals. This chime is tuned to an ancient Chinese pentatonic scale and like the phoenix, its sound is a beautiful song. Woodstock Chimes are the original, musically-tuned, high-quality wind chimes known worldwide for their superior sound. When listening to a Woodstock Chime, you hear a fine musical instrument played by the wind. More than 30 years ago, the first Woodstock Chime was created by founder and owner Garry Kvistad from an aluminum lawn chair he found in a landfill. As a professional musician and instrument designer, he was fascinated by the Scales of Olympus, a 7th century pentatonic scale that can’t be played on a modern piano. Garry and his wife Diane founded Woodstock Percussion, Inc. in 1979 and it remains a family-owned business in New York’s Hudson Valley.
